Arriving a little too early at the wharf, we waited amid beautiful jacaranda trees, with a carpet of fallen purple blossoms, and flowering shrubs that lined the banks of the river. A paddle wheeler was coming for the Day Out Society cruise up the Hawkesbury River.

Fifty-seven Day Out Society members had boarded a coach at 7.30am, with the first stop at Pheasants Nest for a scrumptious morning tea. After a delicious home-cooked feast with a large selection of more goodies than we could consume, we resumed our seats on the coach heading for Windsor.
At Windsor, the weather was a little overcast with some large grey clouds overhead, but the sky soon cleared, the sun came out, and all was perfect for the rest of the day.
After boarding the paddle wheeler, we cruised up the river at a leisurely pace. Seated at our allotted tables, we were served a tasty lunch of barbecued steak, fish, and sausages, and a selection of tasty salads followed with delicious sweets.
As we watched the countryside slide by, we were entertained with music from a live band and male singer who continuously played for the whole cruise.
After a couple of hours cruising and relaxing in this wonderful atmosphere, we arrived back at the wharf to board our coach for the return journey home.
We again stopped at Pheasants Nest, where we drew our big raffle in which the winners had a selection of 30 or more prizes.
Resuming our journey, we arrived back in Goulburn about 6pm with a coach load of happy, contented members.
