Remains that were discovered in bush land north of Lake Alexandra at Mittagong have been positively identified by police as those of Kathleen Lidden.
The remains, which were located by a member of the public on December 16, were examined by specialist forensics officers.
A crime scene was established.
A NSW police spokesperson said the results of the post mortem examination positively identified the remains as a 52-year-old woman from Bowral, later confirming they were those of Ms Lidden.
The spokesperson said Ms Lidden was reported missing from her home in June 2017.
Investigations are ongoing.
