Upper Lachlan Council has been advised by Australia Post that there have been several reports of mail theft and tampering since 13 December 2017.
Police have been notified and are making inquiries.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Senior Constable Brad Jones on 0408 562 049 (please note, for urgent police matters phone 000).
To reduce the risk of falling victim to mail theft and tampering, residents are encouraged to: regularly clear their letterbox to ensure items can be fully and securely inserted into the box; and secure their letterbox with a sturdy lock.
Mail that is tampered with or goes missing from a resident's letterbox after it has been delivered is a criminal matter and customers should immediately report the theft to the police.
