Three of the alleged five offenders are from Goulburn: a woman, aged 31, and two men, aged 18 and 21.
Officers attached to the Hume Local Area Command (LAC) believe the woman and men were involved in a home invasion this month with two other males from Campbelltown.
On Saturday, January 13 about 1.45pm, Hume police say the group of five approached a house on the south side of Auburn Street in Goulburn.
They knocked down the door and entered the house without the resident’s permission.
Police say the 35-year-old male resident, who was not alone, was attacked by one of the five in the group.
One of the group was holding a machete and lunged at the 35-year-old resident, police say.
The resident was taken to Goulburn Base Hospital with lacerations to his shoulder, but released later that day.
The next day, Sunday, January 14, the Goulburn trio was arrested in Braidwood after they were seen by police in the town about lunch time.
The three appeared in Goulburn Local Court before Magistrate Mark Douglass on Monday, January 15 and did not enter a plea to charges of aggravated break and enter.
Acting Hume LAC detective Inspector Keith Price said the work of his officers and colleagues from the Campbelltown LAC “was outstanding, to have all five people apprehended in a very short time”.
“This is one of those great examples of the professionalism and dedication of our police to resolve a horrible incident quickly,” he said.
Inspector Price described the home invasion as a “violent attack”.
“I would like the public or anyone considering committing a crime like this to be assured we will catch them,” he said.
The woman and two men from Goulburn will return to appear in Goulburn Local Court on March 14.
