The photo of the Nationals deputy prime minister reading the newspaper about himself circulated twitter, with many commenting on his political future.
For many who look closely at the photo, there is a man, standing behind Mr Joyce, who we assume is waiting to pay for his petrol – very much unfazed.
This man’s floating head perhaps encompasses what many Australians think about the ongoing saga that has crippled whatever semblance of order is left in the Australian parliament.
First it was shock, then confusion, questions, jokes, and now maybe, just maybe, indifference for some.
The Liberal-National tit-for-tat speaks more about the stability and maturity of elected representatives to make a decision and get on with the job than it does about respect towards the ministerial code.
We will look back at this: the bonk ban, the Nationals and awkward Sky News interviews and say, ‘that bloke with the Akubra, yeah, he was in Goulburn filling up petrol in the middle of all that drama’.
Actions speak louder than words
Members of the Marulan Rural Fire Service has opened their arms to a new thermal imaging firefighting camera.
The handheld imaging gun measures the degree of heat by simply pointing the camera in a desired location.
Operations of the thermal imaging gun was displayed to a journalist at the gates of Holcim in Marulan last week.
At first, the firefighters began with the bitumen, then the exhaust. However, it didn’t take long before the group of men were jokingly measuring the heat of their foreheads and chests.
In a glimpse, men became boys – a reminder childhood never truly disappears.
