Amid laughter and recollection of her time at Chevalier College, on Friday the 19-year-old presented the school with the shirt off her back – a signed jersey from her international debut against India on January 29, 2016.
Cheatle recalled how the Melbourne game got washed out and overs reduced to two per bowler.
“I actually got three in so I bowled the most that game,” Cheatles said.
With representatives from the student body in the form of captains Will Jamieson and Hannah Rewais, Cheatle presented the framed jersey to the school.
“We had the option to give two debut shirts to a person or club who helped in our development,” she said.
“I chose here and my primary school, Bowral Primary.”

Cheatle said the school had been a major stepping stone for her and helped influence her core values, which carry on to her game.
“I felt it was only appropriate to give it to Chevlier College,” she said.
Principal Chris McDermott said that Cheatle had left a great legacy to the school.
“I interviewed a girl who is coming into year seven next year and she knew you,” Mr McDermott said.
“She told me ‘I want to be like Lauren Cheatle so I can captain the boys.”
Mr McDermott said the jersey will take pride of place.
As Cheatle stood in the school foyer many of her past teachers stopped to say hello and congratulate her on her success.
