On any given day any of these teams can dominate their opposition. All possess some very strong batsmen and a mixture of good spin and pace bowlers. They also have some quite youthful players who double up after participating in junior games in the morning, to be amongst the key players for their senior team. The game on Saturday afternoon could have gone either way with Jordan Gregory and Macleay Robinson, having an impact in the under 16s game for Wollondilly against Crookwell in the morning.
Bowlo Rats won toss and before the game got underway the teams held a minutes silence to commemorate a former Bowlo Rats and Hibo player Michael Campbell-Jones, who's birthday it was on Sunday. Michael passed away several years ago but his memory lives on.
Andrew Munroe, who has scored in excess of 800 runs this season opened the batting for the Rats. But his time at the crease was very short lived. The opening ball hit his glove on way to the Warriors keeper and he was out. With Sibin Paul bowling with the ball swinging a mile both ways and Andrew Hopkins with his in-swingers at the other scoring was hard. Jimmy Gill's first ball of his spell took out Rob Channing, bowled for 14. Channing had finally broken his scoring drought against the Warriors having gone for a duck in each of the last two encounters. Rats Captain Shane Munroe was next to go bowled by Andrew Hopkins for 10. Rats were three wickets down for 45 in the 16th over. Jordan Gregory was determined to lift the Rats run rate and was able to hang around for a while before he blasted a ball to Hammad’s right, which Hammad caught with a reflex dive to remove him for 18. With two run outs and wickets falling the Bowlo Rats were all out for 101 in the 35th over.
Best bowler was Sibin Paul with three wickets for 14 runs in three overs. Jordan Gregory top scored for the Rats with 18 runs.
Andrew Munro extracted some revenge for his own early dismissal by bowling Sreejesh Sreedharan for a duck. Warriors Captain Jobin Thomas lifted the Warriors run rate blasting 14 runs on Andrew Munroes in one over with a massive six and two fours but he was caught by T Cooper off Andrew Munro’s bowling for 19. Jestin Jacob chipped in with 17 before he was caught and bowled by Rob Channing .
Abdul Raheem 21 not out, Russell Mills 22 and Hammad 3 not out took victory with five wickets gone in the 21st over.
