‘Tinkle and Honk’ will showcase the talents of acclaimed pianist and accompanist John Martin and freelance trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Kyle Eardley.
Mr Martin, who has often been featured on ABC Classic FM, will be the official accompanist for GRC students sitting any form of music exams. Mr Eardly, fresh from the Sydney Conservatorium, will join the growing brass faculty and develop in-school music programs.
"I was watching my favourite TV show back in the day, Play School, [and] they had a saxophonist come and play on the show. I was hooked immediately. I got a clarinet that Christmas, thanks Santa,” he said, recalling how he got into music.
He cited Clifford Brown and Australian trumpeter Warwick Alder as inspirations in his field.
Touring the USA with the Sydney Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra, his most cherished moment was recording a studio album with renowned guitarist James Muller.
‘Tinkle and Honk’ will be presented in the Paviour Recital Hall on Tuesday, March 20 at 7.30pm.
