The proprietor of Jim’s Bean Machine will host the barbecue fundraiser, including a guessing competition, with every dollar raised on the day going directly to the 70 Tathra families directed affected by the fires.
“We all sometimes feel paralysed and helpless when disaster strikes,” Mr Catt said. “So here's your chance to support the people of Tathra and in return get a great feed, or maybe win a fabulous prize.”.
Mr Catt also said those out of town over Easter could instead donate cash via Goulburn Mulwaree Council at their Civic Centre service counter, 184 Bourke Street, for the Bega Valley Shire Mayoral Relief Fund.
Meantime, the Marulan Lions Club last weekend raised $8000 for the Tathra Bushfire Appeal. Members stationed themselves at both BP service centres at Marulan.
Publicity officer Christine Wyatt said they would continue the appeal this Thursday and Monday, from 9am to 7pm, at the service centres. “We’re just a small club but we’ll be filling in as best we can on the Friday and Saturday as well,” Mrs Wyatt said.
“A lot of us have been to Tathra on holidays and it’s part of our Lions area. All the money raised goes directly to the Tathra Bushfire Appeal handled by Merimbula/Pambula Lions, which will direct it to where it’s most needed.”
The club’s efforts continue on Sunday with a barbecue at Bunnings, Goulburn from 9am to 4pm. All profits will also go to the Tathra appeal.
