The Goulburn Tennis Club began their finals week with the Ladies A Grade doubles grand final recently.
Maureen Bates, who teamed up with Ruth Gibson, filled in for the injured Jo Hailston and took on Rosemary Bollen and Olivia Plumb in what turned out to be a very competitive final.
It took a third set tiebreaker to decide the match.
Gibson and Bates came out 5-6 6-2 6-5 winners, but the real champion of the final was Bollen.
Her consistency at 81-years-old and Plumb's power at 20 years of age made it a very difficult match for the champions.
Men's competition
The Men's A grade semi final was played between the pairing of Michael Montgomery and Trent Tapper, and the father and son team of Grant and Adam McSorley.
It was extremely competitive and quite tense at times, but the father and son team were too good on the night.
It was another close one though, with the final score being 6-2 5-6 6-4.
The final was full of intense blow by blow rallies when the McSorleys played Jarred Hunt and Jarrod Twaddell.
Adam was serving at a very high level with enviable precision and the first set was very close, but went to the two Jarrods 6-3.
The second set saw the McSorleys demonstrate an extremely effective tactic of shutting the centre of the court off on the net.
They often forced their opponents to play a difficult down the line shot that missed wide and raced through to win 6-0.
The two Jarrods composed themselves though, to win the last set 6-4.
The Thursday night "men's" competition final was played between the brother and sister super combo of Braedan and Ella Ferris and Ben Rudd and Bella Greig.
Both ladies played beautiful strokes and often outclassed their male opponents.
All four players displayed pure consistent ball striking to showcase their ability, but Ben and Bella were too good, winning 1-6 6-4 6-3.
