SOUTH Goulburn resident Max Tivey has had four cats disappear in about a month, prompting him to think a cat poisoner may be at large in the area.

"Since July 2, four of my cats have disappeared from my unit complex in Haigh Court, Landsdowne St," Mr Tivey said.
"These are cats that do not normally roam, and I keep them under control, so it is extremely unlikely that they have simply wandered off and there is no sign that they have been hit by cars."
Adding to the mystery, he said while searching for the cats on July 3, he discovered five dead magpies in a group in the nearby park off Lansdowne Street
"They appeared to have been poisoned, so I returned home to get a container in which to put one or two of the birds, in order to have them tested by a vet," he said.
"Upon returning, the dead birds had been removed. Obviously, I was seen when I discovered the dead birds..."
