A Goulburn Post XI and an outfit comprising local councillors and council employees will go hell for the leather in a twenty20 exhibition match designed to raise money for flood victims. Ironically, the Pollies and the Press will do battle for the Parasites Cup.
Each player will donate $15 to play, bowlers will fork out a dollar each time they’re swiped over the fence, spectators and supporters alike will fill a donation bucket with money and a few handy gifts will be raffled on the boundary.
The showdown - to commence from 4pm at Carr Confoy - will double as the first battle for the Parasite Cup since January 1993. The Press will be keen for a repeat of their last outing, a match they won by 31 runs.
