New Year’s Eve
IN other news, Goulburn Police were happy with the behaviour of the city’s New Year’s Eve revellers, with only four arrests made.
Sergeant John Sheehan told the Post that it was busier than normal, but that people were generally well behaved.
“We also had an increased police presence, with an extra 12 officers assigned to the Local Area Command,” he said.
“These officers were split between both the Goulburn and Bowral stations.”
More fires
THE Southern Tablelands branch of the Rural Fire Service is urging people to take heed of total fire bans after a couple of fires in the Tarago/Lake George and Crookwell regions over the weekend.
Southern Tablelands zone operations manager Ian Kennerley told the Post that a fire covering approximately two to three acres at Binda on Friday was contained.
Also, in the Lower Boro region (near Lake George) another fire was also blacked out by volunteers over an area of approximately five to six acres.
“We also had to put out a fire in the Mayfield region (south of Tarago), after some stupid people failed to heed the warnings that we put out in the media about the total fire bans,” he said.
