And if farm vehicles aren’t pulling in to load up fodder, the business is out doing deliveries.
Manager Mac Fife (pictured right) said hay sales had definitely increased in the past six weeks.
“People are making the decision to sell livestock at reduced prices because sales are not great at the moment, keep feeding them or pray for rain,” he said.
“Every second phone call is about how and asking how much it is.”
All varieties have been in demand and with this has come a slight price rise. Mr Fife expects prices to increase further in February/March as hay becomes scarcer and the business looks further afield for fodder.
Asked about the general mood, Mr Fife said graziers were getting worried.
“But it’s not the panic stations of the drought in the past 10 to 15 years. There is concern out there we may be getting into another drought,” he said.
