Striker Brody Willis proved his class with a hat-trick while Josh Phelps had immediate impact scoring a brace off the bench.
James Pugh worked tirelessly in the middle in a stand out performance.
“Jimmy showed real workmanship all day and worked tirelessly all afternoon,” coach Robin Caulfield said of the midfielder.
However it wasn’t all easy. A lapse in concentration saw Tuggeranong put away two goals within the first 15 minutes of the second half after the Strikers were 3 – nil up at half time.
The side then rallied against the Tuggeranong team which was bolstered with Premier League reserve players.
“I really liked the communication and everybody working for each other,” Caulfield said.
Strikers second grade didn’t fare as well as their senior counter parts, losing 6 – 2 to the Tuggeranong reserves.
Three goals were conceded from penalties. The Strikers all age women’s team lost to ANU 2 – 1 while their reserves managed a 2 – 1 win also against ANU.
