He has many local fans and defenders, and even many prominent NRL commentators are quick to point out that he is an amiable, articulate and well-mannered young man in a sober and professional context. Off the field he's found a bunch of ways to get himself into trouble.
There's no doubting his ability and personal charisma, there's also no ignoring his record and opinion on what to do about Todd is divided.
Some, like rugby league legend and television commentator Andrew Johns, say that this latest incident, though publicly unacceptable and a very bad look for the NRL, harmed no-one but Todd and should not be a sackable offence. Others, including another former great, Bob Fulton, say his previous misadventures have added up to the point where any indiscretion is enough to cancel his contract.
