IF the words “kit home” conjure up thoughts of pokey, little, box-like, pre-fabricated or wrestling with a flat-pack suitable only for a holiday home, then it is time to think again.

Kit homes provide a flexible and affordable alternative for those looking to build without compromising on quality.
There is very little restriction in design and size and the home can be made to suit any style such as country cottage, coastal/beach, or more sleek lines of an architectural look.
We offer concept plans to help get you started and can also help with your own design to cater for your individual site demands.
Johanne Sheehy of Illawarra Steel Frame Homes has been involved in the kit home industry for two decades now and said it was more accurate to describe their business as a full service.
They help get you through the owner builder process from concept to completion.
“We start with your design ideas and then turn these into plans for submission to Council,” Ms Sheehy said.
“We choose to use Bluescope frames and trusses for the highest quality in framing materials and this vision for quality is followed through with all inclusions for the kit.
“Most of our clients are building their second or third home. “It’s going to be their last and so they are looking for ways to achieve the dream, but save a little in the process by going down the ‘owner builder road’.
More often than not, once finished, they find the whole project quite rewarding.
“As a licensed manufacturer for Bluescope, we will personally design and detail your job.”
The steel has the advantage of being much easier to work with because it is light weight and frames and trusses can be easily carried and erected by just two people following our detailed construction manual.
There is currently a resurgence of the “do it yourself” idea being inspired by the many TV shows encouraging building and renovating – who isn’t watching The Block?
Owner building offers many ways to save. Many of our clients are getting down and getting dirty but there are also those who are happy to just project manage but still managing to save on the builder’s profit margin.
Doing it yourself also allows for no middle man on the bigger cost items such as your kitchens and PCs.
Internet shopping or following the sales from major suppliers can save you thousands.
