The works – to cost about $1.1 million – will potentially include three new meeting rooms, a new customer service area and new glass front entrance.
Director of Utilities Grant Moller will brief councillors on the project’s progress since they approved it in-principle at the October 14 meeting last year.
“Since the above meeting, Council’s project team reviewed the procurement method and changed the process from a design and construct project to detailed design followed by construction only,” he says in his report.
“This process gives better assurance of cost and provides a better mechanism to project manage the construction.”
Council advertised a Request for Quotation for the detailed design in December 2014.
CCJ Architects were the successful proponent and over the past six months completed a full detailed design, quantity survey and tender specification schedule.
Mr Moller’s report recommends councillors proceed with a tender seeking process for the construction of the alterations based on CCJ Architects’ detailed designs.
The 2015/16 council budget has allocated $1.2m for the works.
Detailed 3D schematics and descriptions of the plans are included in tomorrow night’s meeting business paper.
