This morning a mobile phone was found in a cell in the maximum security section of Goulburn Correctional Centre, which is separate to Supermax. The cell was occupied by a member of an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang who is serving multiple sentences for murder.
“We take mobile phones in prisons very seriously,” said Assistant Commissioner for Custodial Corrections Kevin Corcoran.
“They are a real challenge in prisons around the world, and one against which our actions in New South Wales are unrelenting. I commend the officers who were involved in this intelligence-based find. Our efforts to detect contraband including mobile phones in prisons will only increase in the weeks to come."
Police have been notified and the phone's contents will be analysed before appropriate charges are considered.
