The bakery was awarded first prize for the ‘best traditional meat pie’, with a couple of staff receiving awards for the best custard tart.
Bakery Manager Rachel Woodman said the keys to making a top pie were lots of flavour, filling and consistency.
“The tastiest pie has to be wholesome, and because we’re baking the same pie over and over again every day, we know for a fact that it’s good,” Ms Woodman said.
“I’m extremely proud of our staff, because it was a combined effort from all of them.
“Fellow baker Tony Selim should also be justifiably proud, as he won second prize for his grain block loaf.”
Staff members Tess Murphy and Johno McMath were over the moon after receiving a first and third prize for their custard tarts.
The next competition the Trappers team are aiming for is the Great Aussie Pie Competition, which will be officially judged at the Fine Food Australia Expo at the Sydney Showgrounds in Sydney Olympic Park from September 20-23.
“We’re definitely looking forward to this competition as it brings a fair bit of prestige and honour to the Trappers brand,” Ms Woodman said.
Trappers also own The Braidwood Bakery, located at 99 Wallace St, Braidwood, which is open from 5:30am - 6pm Monday- Thursday and Saturdays and from 5:30am - 7pm on Fridays and Sundays.
