The NSW contingent, some 1,000 riders strong, gathered at The Domain at 7.30am Saturday morning before joining the Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance to Goulburn and then on to Canberra.
Now in it's sixth year, the Ride aims to:
- Commemorate the service and sacrifice of fallen Australian police;
- Raise much needed funds in support of fallen officers’ families; and,
- Promote motorcycle safety.
After leaving Goulburn, the NSW contingent proceeded to the Police Wall of Remembrance in Canberra.
"It's a fantastic opportunity just to catch up, just to remember," said Commissioner Scipione, adding that just this week the NSW Police Force commemorated five years since the death of Will Crews.
The ride slows down at sites along the route where police officers have lost their lives, this year including a drive-by at Collector for Constable Samuel Nelson, killed 150 years ago.
Out of uniform, and looking more like Sons of Anarchy than Boys in Blue, this year’s Wall to Wall: Ride for Remembrance featured more riders than any previous year.
