Founding director of the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium, Dr Paviour has been unceasingly active in music and the arts in and around Goulburn for more than 30 years.
A world-renowned composer, arranger and conductor, Dr Paviour has enriched the region’s cultural life. He has wrought choral and orchestral works, encouraged young talent and mentored musicians around the globe.
In 2011, he re-joined the GRC primarily as a choral leader and accompanist.
“Paul is a force of nature,” said Conservatorium director Paul Scott-Williams.
“He is simply unstoppable and often we have all stood in awe of what he has been able to achieve musically.”
Mr Scott-Williams said Dr Paviour would still be part of the GRC community as “Old conductors don’t retire, they simply pause for effect!”
The GRC will farewell Dr Paviour and his wife Margaret this Friday, with a final Carols Concert featuring the Dividing Range Choir in St Peter and Paul’s Cathedral on December 16.
