AN inmate who was stabbed and scalded in an altercation at Goulburn Correctional Centre earlier this week is reported to be in a stable condition.

Correctional Services confirmed the man "was stabbed and had hot water thrown on him," in the main part of the prison about 2.30pm on Tuesday.
SnowyHydro Southcare Helicopter was tasked to North Park for the "medical trauma" transfer shortly before 4pm.
Ambulance officers worked for nearly 45 minutes to stabilise the man, understood to be in his 30's, before the transfer could take place.
Yesterday, Corrective Services told the Post the inmate remained stable.
Meantime, a second inmate is being treated in hospital for injuries to his jaw after he was assaulted by another inmate inside the prison shortly after 2pm on Wednesday.
A suspected assailant has been placed in segregation pending a police investigation.
Corrective Services NSW is investigating both incidents.
