GOULBURN Strikers are looking forward to the football representative season in the Capital Football State League.
Players have been training since January and as well as the Men’s State League One side the club is fielding teams again in the Women’s State League One and Two, Boys Under 14s Division One and the Over 35s.
Around half of their games will be played in Canberra and the rest at the Strikers home ground, Strikers Park formerly known as League Park at the Goulburn PCYC.
Captain of the Men’s State League Club this year is Ben Hartin and the club’s head coach is Robin Caulfield whose experience in playing and coaching comes from the English Football clubs in Sheffield and Barnsley.
He also brings to the club his no nonsense approach to training and behaviour gained from extensive policing experience and a detective inspector in England.
Caulfield’s sharp eye for detail and ability to read the big picture are handy coaching skills that the teams particularly his State League One men will benefit from.
Caulfield will be doing his best with the aid of the club captain to mould the Strikers into a cohesive unit that will do better this year than they did in 2015.
This weekend the Strikers State League One side kicking off their season against Belwest at 3pm on Charnwood Oval and earlier in the day at Strikers Park the Over 35s kick off their season in Division Nine against Brindabella A at 11am.
The Women get their start in Division Two at 11am on Sunday at home at Strikers Park playing Brindabella while the Division One side plays Olympic White at Noon also on Strikers Park in Avoca St Goulburn.
