Sponsored by Auto One Goulburn, the Saturday, January 7 meet will feature super sedans, f500s, mod lites, compacts and Fender Benders.
Special guest, US driver Devin Moran, will be driving Ross Nicastri’s late model. Moran drives late models in the US.
Nicastri, whose son Ben is also a competitor on Saturday night, arranged for Moran to visit the Goulburn track.
Organiser Tony Kranitis says it’s an honour to host the American, who is expected to be a spectator drawcard.
“He’s been blitzing them everywhere he’s been going,” Kranitis said.
“He’s extremely fast. That’s why they call him a sensation, he’s just that good.
“In one heat, if there hadn’t been a stoppage, he would have lapped the heat, and that’s really saying something.”
With temperatures set to peak at mid 30s this weekend, Kranitis began watering down the track Wednesday night, and will keep watering to maximise its moisture right up to the meet. “The last thing you want is a dustbowl,” he said.
Spectators can watch from the tiered stands or their own vehicles, Kranitis said.
He thanked major sponsor Auto One Goulburn for their continued support of the Speedway and motor racing.
Admission: adults $20, pensioners $10, children (under 14) $10, family (two adults, two children) $40, and under school age free. Gates open 4pm; racing starts 6pm. Canteen open.
The next meet on January 21 will feature wingless, modified, sedans, micro sprints and GPs.
