This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever with activities to please all ages and interests. There will be over 20 market stalls, cosplay competitions, a live Quidditch match, ‘box wars’, superhero rock and roll wrestling.
There is also comic art workshops and pop art makeup demonstrations.
“Comic Con is really important for Goulburn as well gives something for the kids and gets that crowd of people to come out in the open and get them to talk to each other,” stall holder and owner of Revolution CD Goulburn, Daniel Townsend said.
“You meet new people, see new things.”
Special guests on the day include Thor of Oz and Rae Johnston (Wonder Woman). Thor and Rae will be running workshops, judging the cosplay competition, moderating the Star Wars vs. Star Trek debate, and will also be available for photos, hammer throwing, and all things geek.
“It’s really important as a business to have a stall,” he said. “You get a lot of exposure, talk to a lot of people and communicate with possible future customers.”
He said the enthusiasm, skill and stories behind the Goulburn Comic Con costumes are fascinating.
“People’s real character comes out and it’s really entertaining to see.”
Cosplay, short for Costume Play, involves dressing up as a character from a video game or Japanese anime (tv show) or manga (comic book).
“There’s so much happening at Goulburn Comic Con 2017,” Library Manager Erin Williams said.
“We’re really excited to be able to invite everyone along to this fantastic day.”
Goulburn Comic Con will talk place between 11am and 5pm. Comic Con is organised by the Goulburn Mulwaree Library. Applications for stalls have now closed.
