The U/16 girls were defeated 0-4 against Shoalhaven for their first game on Saturday. Against Far South coast it was a 2-2 tie and against Eurobodalla it was another tie ending the day at a 1-1 score.
Coach Fred Eddy said there were a number of players who had sustained injuries around competition time. The team, made up of under 14, 15 and 16’s, begun training for the competition in February.
“We’re in for good stead out there,” Eddy said.
“The girls are really starting to come together and playing well as a team. It’s very promising.”
He said the players put in an outstanding effort in every game.
For the U/12 boys it was a similar start to the competition with a 0-4 loss against Eurobodalla on Saturday. However the team came back on Sunday with a 3-2 win against Shoalhaven.
The U/12 boys will head to Nowra in two weeks to verse Far South Coast, Eurobodalla and Far South Coast.
The U/16 girls will play Shoalhaven, Far South Coast, Eurobodalla and the Highlands over the very same weekend.
Successful teams will go on to play in the NSW Country Championships in June and represent their region.
