April is in her third year of a Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography). She has immersed herself in her studies and College life.
Sancta Sophia College was founded in 1926 and today caters for 160 undergraduate women and 128 postgraduate men and women studying at University of Sydney, UTS and Notre Dame.
It is a safe and supportive home away from home where residents can be involved in a range of leadership, cultural, spiritual, sporting and recreational activities.
“Living at Sancta has enabled me to get the best out of studying in Sydney,” April said.
“I have been able to take on a leadership role coordinating all the College sports activities, as well as participating in the sports I love the most – rowing and soccer.
“Being part of the Sancta leadership team, as a member of the House Committee, has broadened my experience working with the needs of different people and this will be an essential skill for me in my profession.”
For April, there is one aspect of Sancta life that sets the College apart.
“Everyone at Sancta is warm and welcoming, it made the move to Sydney so much easier,” she said.
“I’ve made so many wonderful friends from all parts of Australia and the world.
“It’s fantastic to be able to be involved with them in all the opportunities available at College.”
Sancta Sophia College Principal, Dr Marie Leech says that the College offers its students a supportive environment to allow them to embrace all that university life affords.
“Our goal at Sancta is to ensure that we provide a setting that encourages students to be academically inquisitive and successful, for them to grow, explore and achieve well beyond the experience that they would have by just attending the University,” Dr Leech said.
