Many of the items disappear off people’s lawns before the council can even collect them.
But its all part of the fun that is the annual Goulburn Mulwaree Clean Up Week.
This is your chance to get rid of those unwanted items in the garage, spare room or back shed and it is on again from August 28 to September 1.
A council spokesperson said the annual bulky waste clean-up encouraged recycling and allowed households to undertake a clean out of their homes as winter comes to a close.
“Residents are asked to place waste out for collection the night prior to their normal weekly collection day,” the spokesperson said.
“There are some restrictions that apply to the clean-up however, or waste may not be collected.
“Individual items should be easily able to be lifted by two people, and waste must be in safe piles of no more than two cubic metres per property.
“Steel and bulky cardboard must be placed in separated piles as this will be collected by Endeavour Industries.
“Most items will be accepted during the week, however it is important to note that mattresses and tyres are not accepted, as well as fridges and air conditioners as these need to be degassed.”
Goulburn Mulwaree Council will again also be taking part in the Garage Sale Trail on Octoner 21 and 22.
“This event was a huge success in 2016, and we encourage residents with unwanted items that are worth recycling to register to hold a garage sale on this weekend in October,” the spokesperson said.
“Council will be supporting the event through advertising and publicity in the lead up, and last year participating households reported great success with their sales.”
