In the closed session of Tuesday night’s council meeting, seven of the nine councillors voted in favour of the new five year contract.
Mayor Bob Kirk said the time was right given Mr Bennett role in aiding plans of an “exciting capital works program”.
Councillor Sam Rowland and Councillor Margaret O’Neill voted against the contract.
Cr Kirk said having Mr Warwick in the general manger role would be appropriate as they approached the Performing Arts Centre project, the redevelopment of the Victoria Park precinct and the upgrade to the Rocky Hill Museum.
Mr Bennett said he was grateful for the opportunity and excited to get on with the job.
“To be part of the leadership and service delivery at Goulburn Mulwaree Council is a great honour, and to have the support of councillors to continue in the role for another five years is very humbling,” Mr Bennett said.
