MBK United's president Chris Webb said the club was thrilled to receive the $8000 grant, via Geissler Motors, for new goalposts, ground maintenance and improvements and equipment at Gunning.
“MBK had its beginnings in 1970 in the Mulwaree, Bradfordville, Kenmore area,” Webb said.
“But in recent years [MBK] has extended its reach to Gunning, offering soccer team membership to the local youngsters.
“We were pleased to receive the cheque from Geissler Motors’ dealer Daniel Basalamah, which we have put towards essential grassroots equipment and training aids.
“MBK has some very active [girls and boys as] members in Gunning and parents who are keen to see their youngsters participating in sport.”
Mr Basalamah said local sporting clubs played “a really important role” within communities, “and we are thrilled to help invest in their futures”.
“Holden recognises the power of possibilities and helping clubs to improve their facilities, purchase equipment and identify exceptional talent,” he said.
“This is why the Home Ground Advantage Program exists.”
Holden offered $250,000 in grants this year.
The summer round opens on November 2.
