The Year 12 student was among 26 who received the award by NSW Governor David Hurley recently.
Jesse was described as an “exemplary community role model”, having volunteered for multiple school activities, including national and international charity organisations.
“[He is] recognised to have selflessly volunteered their time to a wide range of organisations and for many very worthy causes while busily preparing for their Higher School Certificates,” NSW Order of Australia Association chairman, John Archer said.
“Jesse has contributed beyond the norm and his actions have inspired his fellow students. He is a beacon of inspiration for others to follow.”
Jesse told the Goulburn Post he was surprised to be nominated for the award earlier this year.
“The group of people I am friends with do all contribute and volunteer thus they see it as valuable,” he said.
“It allows you to be involved in the community and use your skills to help others.”
The award recognises people who display outstanding acts of community service.
Jesse's mother Joanne accepted the citation and trophy from NSW Governor David Hurley on her son’s behalf.
