Australia Post says it will deliver more than 2.5 million parcels, the biggest-ever number to be delivered in a single day in Australia.
Australia Post Group chief operating officer Bob Black said sorting facilities were processing record parcel volumes.
Online shopping is thought to be one of the major drivers behind the parcel numbers.
“Australians are shopping online more than ever, with an unprecedented growth rate of 15 per cent in the first half of 2017,” Mr Black said.
“Online shopping festivals like Click Frenzy and Black Friday have also proven to be extremely popular this year and we expect to be busy right up until Christmas.”
Australia Post has urged customers to send their parcels as early as possible, to ensure they arrive in time for Christmas.
