The mathematicians, Katherine Jonson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) became the brains and a driving force behind the launch of astronaut John Glenn as part of the historic space race.
The narrative tells a story of not only the triumph of NASA, but one of women and African-Americans at a time of shifting cultural values and perspectives.
The night will include a glass of wine or soft drink upon arrival and three courses including gourmet pizza for dinner.
Since its inception, Movie Under the Stars, led by the BDCU Goulburn Hospital Fundraising Committee Inc., has raised $300,000 towards hospital equipment, and aims for upwards of $5000 this year.
All funds collected on the night will go towards a Bubble CPAP machine, an airway pressure device for infants who have difficulty breathing.
The equipment will also allow midwives and paediatricians to work hands free as opposed to the current hand held mask used in the maternity ward.
BDCU Goulburn Hospital Fundraising Inc’s Publicity Officer, Karon Jones said Movie Under the Stars is “always a wonderful evening”.
“It’s an amazing location where people can bring a chair or blanket, enjoy dinner and watch the sunset over Sooley Dam, followed by screening of the movie,” Ms Jones said.
She advised those interested to attend to book tickets quick as tickets have sold out in previous years.
