To be held in Melbourne next Wednesday, the game will be a blooding for the majority of the Blues outfit, including newcomers to the majors like Dragon Jack De Belin and Rabbitoh Damien Cook.
This week, In The Clear NRL Podcast regulars Chris Boulous and Matt Lawrence were joined by St George Leader sports editor Andrew Parkinson.
Parkinson served up his thoughts on the NSW origin side and offered a few insights into the Sharks camp, which has won the last six on the trot.
While he preferred to sit on the fence than offer the tip, he was willing to vouch for the Blues for game one.
He said, however, that he feared some of the players selected may not necessarily be ready for the big game experience.
Lawrence was more of a believer, applauding the selectors for making decisions based on form, regardless of their age or previous origin experience.
“If these young blokes get off to a good start, I see it being NSW by 12 at least,” said Lawrence.
Later in the podcast the lads pondered the weekend’s four NRL matches – due to a split round.
Which brought up the issue of fairness, considering the impact origin will have on some of the clubs.
