Goulburn West Public School had the largest team with students Ella Hurtis (Year Six), Will Ryan (Year Four), Scarlett Brinkley (Year Two), and Lola Brinkley (Year One).
Ella placed third in the Scots College races in Boarder X some weeks ago .
In the Interschools Snowsports competition, Ella Hurtis has moved on to the state level in both snowboard GS and Boarder X after placing in the top 10 of the field.
Scarlett Brinkley placed ninth in Alpine and Skier X Southern NSW region and has made it through to NSW state level for the first time, which will be held at Thredbo later in August.
Will Ryan placed in the mid pack of the boys division 5 Alpine and Ski X field, improving on his times and places from previous years.
Lola following big sister Scarlett, finished hot on her heals a few places back, and hopefully will be a top contender next year for an invite to state.
Goulburn High and East Goulburn Public School, both for the very first time had competitors on the mountain. Lilly Ryan (Year Seven), has moved up into the high school divisions this year from Goulburn West, and became Goulburn High School’s first student to compete.
She placed 10th overall for Snowboard GS, narrowly missing on time to make it through to State, however she has high hopes for next year.
She also shaved four seconds off her Ski X and Alpine times, to place her mid pack in the Division Three fields. Goulburn high school teacher Mark White attended for the three day competition and provided lots of support and coaching to Lilly, as well as some of the soon-to-be high school children.
Ruby McIntosh from Goulburn East Public School made her ski debut in the Division Six Alpine race. She placed 34th in southern NSW, in what were very difficult and icy conditions. We hope her younger sister Layla will join us next year in the competition fun.
Alicia Brinkley, from Mulwaree High School, competed for her school in the parents Alpine GS Scots college races placing fouth, while her husband Dan placed seventh in the snowboarding race.
Goulburn and District Snowsports Association is an organisation of supporting parents to help fundraise and support the Snowsports kids of the Goulburn district. This has helped the kids fund race training and uniforms to help them compete at the Snowsports events for their schools. It welcomes all new participants to ensure local children can access snowsports competitions
