This Saturday we are hosting a different kind of event, inviting the community to come tour the new Wastewater Treatment Plant at 54 Ross Street prior to it becoming operational. The $30 million infrastructure project is one of the largest ever undertaken in Goulburn, made possible through a $10m federal government grant, with the council contributing $20m. The site will be open on October 13, 1pm until 3pm. It might be considered a somewhat unusual family outing, but I am sure all who attend will be impressed. The plant is not operating with effluent at the moment so will pose no health and safety risks, or smell issues, for the public. All visitors will need to wear enclosed shoes at the site.

Free waste weekend
It is time to start the shed clean-out in anticipation of the free bulky waste disposal weekend on November 3-4 at Waste Management Centres in Goulburn, Marulan and Tarago, 7am to 4pm. Residents will be able to dispose of bulky waste such as household furniture, green waste, cardboard and steel for free at the waste centres, with each property limited to two cubic metres of waste. The same items that were previously accepted in the September clean up service will be accepted during the November disposal weekend. The items must be sorted so that recyclables such as green waste, steel and cardboard are placed in the appropriate areas at the waste centres or charges will apply. Items with a per-item charge, including tyres, mattresses and fridges/freezers will not be accepted for free during the November disposal weekend. The council encourages residents without access to a ute or trailer to use handyman services or community organisations to transport their waste on the weekend to take advantage of the waived fees. Sharing roads
At our Middle Arm outreach meeting last week we heard some concern about cyclists not paying attention on the Middle Arm Road. Cycling is a popular hobby around our region. I just want to remind all road users, whether cars, trucks, motorcycles or bikes, to please be aware of others.
