Up against Metro Southwest, Greater Illawarra triumphed 7-0, a one-sided scoreline to which Economos contributed greatly.
The Goulburn local, who plays for Tuggeranong in the ACT Hockey competition, was stationed in the back for Greater Illawarra and was instrumental in organising her team’s defensive efforts and ensuring that all of Metro’s chances at goal were efficiently stifled.
To cap off an excellent game, Economos also scored a goal and assisted in another.
It was an emphatic victory, and the scoreline showed the extent to which Greater Illawarra had controlled the play.
The Division One final was preceded by the Division Two final, which took place in the Old Basketball Stadium. In that match, Orange triumphed over Central Coast, 5-4.
Two Goulburn teams featured in the competition, one in Division One, and another in Division Two.
The championships took place from Friday to Sunday, with 20 teams competing from all over NSW. Tournament Director Cheryl Dollin was thrilled with the turnout.
