This Christmas, Goulburn parkrun is hosting a special event outside the club’s regularly scheduled Saturday morning events.

parkrun is not just a run as its name suggests, it is much more. It’s pram friendly, dog friendly (only one per person and on a short leash) and caters to both serious runners and social runners and walkers alike.

Children are also encouraged to participate in the event. However, runners under the age of 11 are required to be within arm’s reach of a responsible adult at all times during the event.

parkrun organises free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

Goulburn parkrun was launched on February 10 this year and has averaged approximately 107 people each week since its arrival.

It’s a free community event run entirely by volunteers. It is sponsored by both Medibank and The Athletes Foot. Goulburn is one of 340 locations in Australia and 1451 globally to take part in parkrun.

It is highly encouraged that your register with parkrun prior to your participation and print out a unique athlete barcode. This will allow you to have your time and place recorded for each event you take part in, no matter where in the world you might be.

Goulburn parkrun is held from the Marsden Weir carpark at 8.00am every Saturday.

The special Christmas day parkrun will be held on Christmas Day, (Tuesday December 25) also at 8.00am.

It is the same event but with a Christmas flair. Dress up if you wish and get in the spirit of this stellar event. It is the perfect opportunity to start the day with some healthy and lively activity before the Christmas turkey takes its toll.
