Eyres is Sport Australia's general manager of marketing customer insights and analytics.
Sport Australia’s research shows some of the reasons adults don't stay active is because they don't have enough time, don't feel it is a priority anymore, or are - simply - too lazy.

Why stay active?
Everyone has to have some level of physical activity.
People have to stay active for their own health and sanity.
You can't put your feet up and think life's a breeze.
How do you keep fit?
I used to be a second rower or lock when I played rugby league.
Now I play a bit of golf and do a bit of gardening.
I love to do hands on things as well.

Why stay active?
Mobility and stretching play an important role in our lifestyles when keeping up with the kids or just going for a group walk for coffee with mates.
Limiting the excuses for not exercising is the key to staying active.
Simple things at home like mowing the lawn, digging the vegetable garden or taking the dog for a walk work is good as long as the heart rate is elevated to an exercise level.
How do you keep fit?
To be fit, I have started to utilise the equipment we have at the local PCYC and have also recently joined a health and fitness challenge run by one of our Aboriginal community groups.

Why stay active?
I think it’s most important for adults particularly parents to have physical activity as part of the life to lead as an example for their children.
Stepping away from the screen of the phone or computer to go ride a bike or go for a walk are some small steps we can take.
How do you keep fit?
I personally like to go for a walk with the dog and my family, even if it’s only to walk around the block as every little bit helps.

Why stay active?
Quite often, our working lives and family responsibilities mean it can be a bit more difficult to get out there and do some exercise.
That means we have to work a bit smarter.
Taking the stairs instead of the elevator or walking instead of driving are little things we can do to stay active.
The old saying of 'use it or lose it' sums up the importance of staying active.
Unless we continue to engage in some form of physical activity, it is going to become increasingly difficult to maintain our health and strength.
How do you keep fit?
I enjoy boxing training, going to the gym and getting involved with my kids sports to keep me fit.

Why stay active?
Being active gives you stronger bones, muscles and joints and a lower risk of developing osteoporosis.
It reduces your risk of a heart attack and also helps you manage your weight better.
How do you keep fit?
To stay fit I think positively, stay happy and do a lot of Zumba.

Why stay active?
It’s vital for everyone to stay active in life, especially adults!
As kids, we grow up being active and playing sport but it stops when we get busy with work, families and other commitments.
Find something you enjoy to and just do it.
Stop making excuses and get active today.
How do you keep fit?
I’ve played soccer since I was four years old and will continue to play for as long as I can.
I also don’t mind the occasional game of golf to stay active.

I do exercise classes, tai chi and gentle exercises.
