Having operated from its premises for nearly 40 years, Riding for the Disabled is now looking to move out to a new location.
"The circumstances have changed and it's time for us to find a 'forever home'," said Kerry Guymer, president of RDA.
"We are looking for new premises for the Goulburn centre of Riding for the Disabled Association (NSW) and hoping that someone in the community would like to donate their land to the organisation.
"We have to relocate by the end of 2021 and have been trying to secure a suitable land. We have had the support of Goulburn Mulwaree Shire Council and held meetings, but have not been successful in finding a land so far."
The Goulburn Riding for the Disabled centre first operated at the Goulburn TAFE campus. In the year 2000, the TAFE campus grounds became unavailable and the organisation had to move to the 'Rosemont Equestrian Centre' at 612 Rosemont Road.
"We would like to thank owner Kath Cole and have been fortunate to have operated out of this premises for so many years," Ms Guymer said. "Now we are looking for premises that will be our 'forever home'.
"We don't want to shut down. The volunteers here are dedicated and do what they do for the love of community."
Goulburn RDA is looking for a secure premises which may have 30-50 acres on the outskirts of town, preferably within a 10-kilometre radius.
"We are looking for a premises on a long-term basis," she said.
They require facilities including agistment paddocks for nine to 10 ponies with a covered arena, amenities area, parking, feed and tack shed.
Facing hurdles in securing land, Ms Guymer said: "We have grants available that we are eligible to apply, but cannot do so unless we have ownership of the land and a DA approval to build our infrastructure.
"There are certain requirements that have to be met to operate Riding for the Disabled out of a certain premises. We cannot operate from a venue unless it meets the criteria obligations to meet accreditation."
Goulburn Riding for the Disabled is a charity accredited with Riding for the Disabled Association (NSW) and is run solely by a group of volunteers. The centre provides therapeutic horse-riding services to 24 disability children.
The support within the community towards the centre will be recognised by Riding for Disabled with a plaque acknowledging their contribution.
