Goulburn Mulwaree Council is offering a free disposal weekend for domestic mattresses, fridges/freezers, air-conditioners and e-waste this weekend at Waste Management Centres in Goulburn, Marulan and Tarago, which will be open from 7am to 4pm on May 4 and 5.
Each household is entitled to dispose of two refrigerators/freezers, two mattresses, one air conditioner and 1m3 of e-waste. All other loads will be charged as per normal fees and charges.
This does not include all white goods.
A council spokesperson said residents are able to dispose of mattresses, fridges, air conditioners and e-waste (televisions, computers, printers, fax machines and computer accessories only) for free over the weekend.
"It is not all white goods - dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, ovens etc are all accepted at the November General Waste weekend but are not accepted this weekend," a council spokesperson said.
Goulburn Mulwaree Mayor Bob Kirk said the council offered two free waste disposal weekends throughout the year, with the general waste weekend to be held in November.
"Last year we ran this weekend for the first time and it was a huge success with many residents taking the opportunity to dispose of mattresses, fridges/freezers, air conditioners and e-waste without cost" Cr Kirk said.
"This is a great opportunity for our community to clean out the back shed and dispose of bulkier items for no cost - I encourage everyone to get organised for the weekend. There may also be some line-ups across the weekend so please be patient as staff work to get everyone in and out of the waste centres as quickly as possible."
Those seeking assistance to get items to a tip are encouraged to contact local waste disposal companies or handyman services, some of which have expressed their interest in waste disposal for a reasonable cost over the weekend.
