Rural Fire Service crews arrived at the Jerrara Road home to find it fully engulfed, Southern Tablelands district coordinator George Shepherd said.
Police notified them of the blaze at abut 10pm.
The house, described as an old fibro structure, was not occupied at the time.
Five tankers and a 24-person crew drawn from Bungonia, Marulan and Tallong brigades attended the scene.
Mr Shepherd said the biggest challenge was keeping up the supply of water, which the tankers drew from Marulan.
It took crews almost two hours to fully extinguish the blaze. They left the scene at midnight.
"There really wasn't much we could salvage," Mr Shepherd said.
A crew is back on scene this morning patrolling the area.
Police said the fire wasn't suspicious.
