The opening race is the Sun Solutions Goulburn Three Year Old Pace. Scheduled to commence at 1.12 pm, the race caters to non-winners of career front races.
With local trainers seemingly having a strong hand in today's card, Dennis Day will be hoping for an improved performance by Strong Response in the first of the day.
Post as the pre-race $2.50 favourite after drawing gate 4, the A Rocknroll Dance gelding will be facing the starter for his third career race start.
At his last race start, Strong Response was a good third at Canberra when he appeared the winner before breaking stride in the run home.
Following his Canberra misdemeanor stewards stood the horse down to contest two requalifying trials. With a win and close second, the two trials have primed him for this afternoon's race.
Hardest to beat are the Bathurst trained Rocky Leigh, and the David Waite trained Itsallaboutned.
In race two, the Southern Highlands Equine Centre Three Year Old Pace, the Neil Day trained El Aguila brings superior race form to this event and looks the afternoons best bet.
A three-year-old colt by Presidential Ball, El Aguila has been posted an odds-on $1.65 favourite in early betting.
El Aguila was a debut winner at Wagga Wagga in February when recording a very smart 1:54.6 mile rate. His form since has been consistent and last start was a good fifth in a three-year-old Breeders Challenge Heat at Bathurst.
Drawn in gate three, El Aguila will appreciate the drop in class and Day is likely to take full advantage of the good drawn by taking the three-year-old to the front.
Hardest to beat include the Bungonia-trained Bently Bullet who likely to enjoy the sit behind the favourite, and the Young-trained Rocco Variety who has been racing consistently on Southern Tablelands tracks.
Gates to the Goulburn Paceway will be open from noon and the club's committee invites all harness fans to come out and experience the wonderful facilities of the Grace Millson Centre. Enjoy quality food and a wide range of cold alcoholic and soft drinks while watching all the racing action in comfort.
Goulburn harness racing is brought to fans by the kind support of Tabcorp, Goulburn Soldiers Club, Hollingworth Crane Hire Service, Randwick Equine Centre, Southern Highlands Equine Centre, Sun Solutions Goulburn, Semco Equipment Sales, RSM Accountants, and a host of smaller businesses including Top Water Carters Crookwell, First National Real Estate Goulburn, Goulburn Livestock Transport, Landmark Southern Livestock Agenices , J A Communications, Crust Gourmet Pizza, Glen Mia ACT Saddlery and Ranvet.
