About 20 people were at the event and they all felt they parted with a world of knowledge.
Mr Miller has a prolific resume to his name and is also widely acclaimed for his work in film, music and theatre.
The two hour workshop included the history of sound, the power of sound to enhance storytelling, advice for techniques and best practice, and plenty of tricks and tips.
"I hope everyone learned a little about sound, music and film making," Mr Miller said.
"Cost efficiency is important for many young film makers, so I like to teach them ways to do things which don't cost much.
"Many examples were drawn from the work of many talented sound practitioners and my own career.
"We did hands-on foley recording, talked about ways to get the best from location dialogue, and examined quick and dirty ways to get the best soundtracks on a budget."
The workshops primarily aimed to help those thinking about joining the film making competition for the Goulburn Show in March next year or anyone with an interest in film making and sound.
