This marks the 13th year the Giving Tree had been in the Cathedral.
St Saviour's Very Reverend Dean Phillip Saunders said the response from the community had been extremely positive over the appeal's many years.
"During that time we have managed to distribute thousands of gifts in the Goulburn area, to make Christmas a little happier for some residents," he said.
"We received [about] 500 presents last year.
"We continue to be amazed by the generosity of people in this community to support others in at this important time of year.
"With the help again of the community, we are hoping to do the same thing again this year."
Any time before Monday December 23, residents and businesses can deliver an unwrapped present and place it under the tree in the Cathedral (170 Bourke Street).
Anglicare staff and volunteers will organise its delivery.
The presents are distributed to families in need in the Goulburn area.
Anglicare's manager of housing and social services Toni Reay said more than 150 families received presents donated to the Christmas Giving Tree last year.
"Anglicare's homelessness services in Goulburn are receiving increasing numbers of calls from people who need assistance," Ms Reay said.
"Not just with housing, but with Christmas presents and food for their children.
"Christmas is a particularly difficult time for families who are vulnerable, which is why I'm so delighted by the year-on-year response of the Goulburn community to help those who are struggling."

Ms Reay said Anglicare also thanked the community for its support during 2019 and wished everyone "a happy Christmas and a healthy and safe 2020".
