There are worse weather conditions to come in the next 48-hours, RFS operational officer for the Southern Tablelands, Lachlan Gilchrist, said.
"Firefighters are working to protect property and establish containment lines in the area. We have had strike teams working overnight on strategies as part of the overall containment," Mr Gilchrist said.
There is a cool change expected tonight, with that the wind speed will increase and contribute to the unpredictability of the fire, he said.
"Tomorrow is hot and hazy again."
The fire is more than 107,000 hectares in size with a perimeter of 480 kilometres and is burning out of control. It is burning on both sides of Lake Burragorang, as far north as the Blue Mountains, and all the way into Warragamba.
Multiple crews are fighting the fire, over a hundred firefighters, and there has been significant water bombing by aircraft, Mr Gilchrist said.
There is presently no threat to property in the Upper Lachlan Shire, but the latest advice is to monitor the conditions and know what to do if the fire threatens.
"It's very big, and volatile and we have difficult conditions forecast. People need to be alert and make decisions about leaving early," Mr Gilchrist said.
He also urged motorists to be aware of local road conditions and closures.
