More extensive mapping of the fire off Oallen Ford Road has put the are at 808 hectares.
It is being controlled.
Update Thursday noon
The fire off Oallen Ford Road near Bungonia flared up on Tuesday night on the back of strong winds.
RFS Southern Tablelands zone manager Peter Alley said while initially mapped at 21 hectares, it was more like 350ha.
Authorities had difficulty mapping its extent due to it location in the national park.
It is burning east towards the gorge and in the direction of the Currowan fire and is listed as out of control.
Superintendent Alley said it was "inevitable" the two would join on the eastern side of the gorge.
Crews are using calmer conditions to build and reinforce containment lines.
Superintendent Alley said there was little activity on the fireground today and crews would be able to tackle it when it emerged into open country.
It is not threatening properties.
Update 6pm Monday
The RFS has reported minimal fire today with the outbreak off Oallen Ford Road.
The fire, which started at about 3pm Saturday, has been revised down again to 21 hectares.
RFS Southern Tablelands zone operations officer Lachlan Gilchrist said it was well within containment lines and he was very confident it would remain there.
"There are just a few smoking logs," he said.
Aerial support was not deployed on the weekend as the RFS assessed it had sufficient resources.
Update 4.45pm Sunday
The RFS has revised down the area burnt in the fire off Oallen Ford Road to 40 hectares.
Southern Tablelands operations officer Lachlan Gilchrist said multiple crews worked on the fireground today and the National Parks and Wildlife Service had put in containment trails.
The blaze was burning in national park and open country. Mr Gilchrist said now it was in accessible country, the RFS was confident of "putting a box around it" by the day's end.
Officially, the outbreak is being controlled.
Update 10am Sunday
The fire which started off Oallen Ford Road on Saturday has burnt 100 hectares.
The RFS reported at 8.45am that the blaze, burning partly in national park, was being controlled.
The Service's operations officer, Michael Gaps said crews had made "considerable ground" overnight in working to control the fire.
"This will continue today with further crews and heavy plant working to consolidate containment lines," he said.
"There will be another 40 firefighters working on this today and residents may see aircraft assisting. Residents should continue to monitor the situation and keep up to date through the Fires Near Me app, the RFS website or contact the bushfire information line on 1800 679 737."
Update 9pm Saturday
RFS crews have undertaken further containment work on the fire off Oallen Ford Road, south of Bungonia.
Operations officer Michael Gapps said personnel on 10 trucks were doing some "positive work." However the RFS is also looking at aerial support on Sunday to keep the blaze within containment lines given the impending hot weather conditions.
A lesser number of crews will remain on the fireground tonight but will increase on Sunday.
Mr Gapps said overnight conditions could help but the amount of dry fuel had seen fires remaining active at this time in this area and across the state.
"There has been some increase in activity with an easterly wind blowing across the ground about 30 minutes ago," he said.
Mr Gapps encouraged people in the area to remain vigilant and have fire plans prepared in case the outbreak broke containment lines.
Currently, no properties are under threat. The fire is burning partly within the national park.
It's not known at this stage how the blaze started.
Meantime, the RFS is holding a community meeting at Marulan Hall at 11am to update residents on the Currowan fire and the potential impact on the area if winds change early this week.
Update Saturday 5.30pm
RFS operations officer Michael Gapps said a fire near Bungonia has so far burnt through about 15 hectares.
The outbreak, 8km south of Bungonia, was reported shortly after 3pm Saturday. It is burning in the vicinity of Jacqua Creek, east of the national park.
Mr Gapps said 10 RFS vehicles were onsite and graders and dozers were buiding containment lines on the northern and western sides to stop its spread to properties.
"There are some isolated and remote properties but nothing of concern beacuse it is moving east, away from the national park," he said.
Mr Gapps told The Post that resources onsite were sufficient but the RFS was working on a strategy to fully contain the outbreak.
"The fire has been quite erratic and intense so crews have had to withdraw until it burns into open country and its behaviour (calms down)," he said.
With daylight hours dwindling, aerial water bombing has not been considered at this stage.
However, Mr Gapps said this could be on the cards if hot spots continued tomorrow.
But for now, the RFS is confident of containing the fire.
"The weather conditions tomorrow are favourable and it will push the fire away from Bungonia properties but the temperature will still be in the mid-30s," Mr Gapps said.
