Green Wattle Creek fire update:

Activity on the southern extent of the Green Wattle Creek fire is increasing.
As a result of technically issues with updating the Fires Near Me Application maps, attached are the latest maps. Due to the size of the fire, map extents aren't able to show the normal detail, however should provide an approximate indication of the last mapped fire edge.
North West winds are continuing to impact the fire ground. A reminder for those to the south and south east of the fire to enact your Bush Fire Survival Plans.
Areas West of the Wollondilly River along Wombeyan Caves Rd in the vicnity of Tallygang Mountain Road should seek advice from fire fighters on the ground. It may be to late to leave.
Current Situation
- Fire activity is increasing across the fireground. Strong north westerly winds are influencing the southern edge of the fire.
- There is an increase of fire in the Wombeyan Caves Road area, north west of Mittagong.
- Firefighters, supported by water bombing aircraft, are working to strengthen containment lines across the fireground today.
- Fire activity may increase in local areas dependant on terrain and local weather conditions.
- Deteriorating conditions are forecast on New Year's Eve with expected high temperatures and strong winds. View the predicted fire spread maps.
Advice
Rock Lilly, Barralier, Wombeyan Caves, areas north west of Mittagong, and north of Wombeyan Caves Road
- Fire activity is increasing. Monitor conditions.
- The fire is likely to cross Wombeyan Caves Road, west of the Wollondilly River, in the Tallygang Mountain Road area.
- It may be too late to leave. Follow the advice from firefighters in the area.
- There is an increase of fire in the Wombeyan Caves Road area, north west of Mittagong. If you are in the area of Wombeyan Caves and Mittagong, monitor conditions. Follow the advice from firefighters in the area.
Yanderra, Hill Top, Buxton, Yerrinbool and Colo Vale
- Monitor conditions. Be alert for embers and spot fires.
- Embers can be blown well ahead of the main fire front, and start spot fires that can threaten homes.
- Activate your bush fire survival plan.
Alpine, Aylmerton, Willow Vale, Braemar, Balaclava, Mittagong, Berrima, Woodlands and Mt Gibraltar areas
- Monitor the changing conditions. Strong north westerly winds will push smoke and ash into the area.
- Stay alert for embers and spot fires.
- Embers can be blown well ahead of the main fire front, and start spot fires that can threaten homes.
Balmoral Village, Nattai, Pheasants Nest, Couridjah, Thirlmere, Tahmoor, Bargo, Oakdale, Lakesland, Silverdale, Warragamba, The Oaks, Belimbla Park, Werombi, Orangeville, Theresa Park and Brownlow Hill
- Elevated fire danger has the potential to see flare ups along the eastern edge of the fire.
- Monitor the changing conditions.
- Know what you will do if the fire threatens.
Burnt Flat, Paling Flat, Long Flat, Bullio, Colong Stock Route, Bindook Highlands, Wanganderry, High Range and Bullio
- Monitor the changing conditions.
- Follow the advice from firefighters in the area.
Jenolan, Jaunter Road, Tuglow and Kanangra areas
- Fire is burning within containment lines.
- Monitor the changing conditions.
Currowan Fire update
The Currowan fire is currently at an emergency level.
Current Situation
- A strong southerly change has crossed the fireground.
- This large fire is burning between Nowra in the north, Braidwood in the west, and Batemans Bay in the south.
- There has been a significant increase in fire activity south of the Kings Highway to the west of Nelligen.
- Crews will focus on strengthening containment lines in an effort to contain the fire.
- The fire merged with the Tianjara fire in the Morton National Park to the south west of Nowra.
- The Charleys Forest Fire has grown along its western flank.
- For advice south of the Kings Highway, refer to the Clyde Mountain Major Fire Update. This is on the southern flank, west of Nelligen. There is fire on both sides of Cabbage Tree Creek.
Advice
Budjong, Bamarang, Beaumont, Tapitallee, Cambewarra, Browns Mountain, Leebold Hill, Upper Kangaroo River, Wattamolla and Kangaroo Valley
- The fire may cross the Shoalhaven River and impact on areas to the north of the river.
- Monitor the changing conditions.
- Follow your bush fire survival plan, and know what you will do if the fire threatens.
Tallong, Wingello, Penrose, Bundanoon, Exeter, Werai, Manchester Square, Avoca, Fitzroy Falls and Barrengarry
- Monitor the conditions.

Wandandian and Jerrawangala
- Fire activity has eased.
- Monitor conditions. Watch out for embers and spot fires.
Road Closures
- Wandean Road and Braidwood Road.
- Hume Highway between Marulan and Sutton Forest
- Kings Highway west of Nelligen, between Reid Street and Narranghi Road.
- Araluen Road, between Araluen and Moruya.
- The Princes Highway is currently open, however, intermittent closures are possible. Please observe speed restrictions and be mindful of the movement of emergency service vehicles.

If you are threatened by fire
- Do not be in the path of the fire.
- Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. Wear protective clothing and footwear. Cover all exposed skin.
- If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
- If your life is at risk, call Triple Zero (000).
- If you are in an area that has already been affected by fire, there may be small areas of active fire burning for some time. Be aware of the dangers of trees and branches falling.

Other Information
- Stay up to date on bush fires in your area by checking the NSW RFS website, listening to your local radio station, or by calling the NSW RFS Bush Fire Information Line on 1800 679 737.
- People with respiratory conditions who are affected by bush fire smoke should activate their health management plan and seek medical advice if necessary. Take precautions, such as staying indoors and closing windows.
