The upgrade work on Museum of Memorabilia in Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre started on Tuesday.

To preserve the displays from dust and pigeons, local contractors have been hired and work estimated to be worth $34,410 will be carried out.
Plans were developed with the assistance of a local retired building consultant to place a roof over the 95 square metres, upgrade the lighting and provide air-conditioning.
An application requesting for grant was submitted to the Veolia Mulwaree Trust Foundation.
"We were successful in our application to the Veolia Mulwaree Trust Foundation who have provided $25,910 towards the total cost of the project. The remaining balance will be met from Goulburn Loco Roundhouse Preservation Society Inc. funds," Terence Carpenter, secretary, said.
"The museum is dedicated to the railway men who have served our community over the years.

"Following the inspiration of the late Colin Grose in 2010, the area was set up to display various items of railway memorabilia.
"The objective was to help 'non-railway' people gain an idea of some of the lesser known aspects of the operation of the railway and the men and women involved in providing the rail transport needs of the community. Known as the Museum of Memorabilia, it is housed within the Wellington Shed."
The museum will be closed during the upgrade works which is expected to be completed in two weeks.
